Everything You Need to Know About Visiting Breach Inlet
Visit Thomson Park
Thomson Park is the most popular spot to visit Breach Inlet. This area on the Sullivan’s Island side of the inlet boasts a sandy shoreline that’s great for walking, fishing, or watching the sunset. A Yelp! reviewer said, “The inlet offers what feels like a hidden, secretive beach with amazing views of the sunset, boats passing by, fisherman trying their luck and dolphins playing in the water.” It’s also the site of a 1776 American Revolution battle!
However, it’s not safe for swimming or any other water sports due to the strong currents. If you’re looking for an adventure on the water, consider these Isle of Palms outdoor activities!
Walk or Bike the Bridge
H.L. Hunley Bridge passes over Breach Inlet between Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island. Here, you can utilize the highway sidewalk and bike lane for an aerial view of the inlet and the elegant homes that line the shore.
Grab a Bite on Sullivan’s
During your visit, you’re sure to dine at popular Isle of Palms restaurants. However, it’s worth trying the fare on Sullivan’s Island while you’re in the area! This area boasts diverse cuisine. You can get everything from southern-style barbecue to Charleston’s best frosé. We recommend visiting Sullivan’s Island CO-OP. This gourmet market serves deli-fresh sub sandwiches, locally roasted coffee, and, of course, refreshing frosé. You can taste the freshness in each item on the menu!
