Go to the Beach
Undoubtedly, the beach is the main attraction on the Isle of Palms. With seven miles of beach and 57 public beach access points, there are boundless opportunities for sun, sand, and surf. Whether you jog along the shoreline, sunbathe, splash in the surf, read under an umbrella, or play toss, a day at the beach is free and fun! Front Beach is one of the most popular beaches on IOP and is worth checking out.
Watch the Sunrise or Sunset
Two of the most spectacular things about IOP are our sunrises and sunsets. Each day, you have two chances to witness the sun as it kisses the horizon and puts on a display for the senses. With hues of orange, red, pink, purple, and yellow, visitors can capture this natural wonder. Our southeast-facing beaches are the best spot to watch the sunrise. From rooftop bars to creekside parks, there are ample locations to witness a stunning sunset.

Beachcombing is an excellent way to spend time at the beach. Bring a bucket or bag to collect your treasures when looking for seashells. If you have a small sifter, that may be helpful also. The best time to look for shells is at low tide and in the morning. Click here for a South Carolina coast seashell guide.
