Visit Fort Moultrie 

Fort Moultrie is located on the western end of Sullivan’s Island, just a few miles from your rental home on Isle of Palms. This palmetto log fort was first erected to protect the city from attacks during the Revolutionary War period. Today, you can walk around the grounds, read historical plaques, and even tour the inside of the fort! After your tour, be sure to dine at one of the best restaurants on Sullivan’s Island. 

Visit Fort Sumter 

Fort Sumter is one of the most famous landmarks in Charleston. It’s where the first shots of the Civil War were fired on April 12, 1861. This fort standing at the mouth of the Charleston’s Harbor is a great site to visit if you want an in-depth look at American military history. It is only accessible by boat tour and provides excellent views of the harbor, Sullivan’s Island, and the city.
